Bookseller request - useful for buyers especially in peak periods.
A publisher user has been having trouble uploading a cover image, which was over the 2mb size limit. The field does specify a max 2mb limit, but no warning or explanation is given when the image fails to upload.
Request from one publisher for access to TitlePage data pulls, in order to run analytics based on market wide metadata trends. This would not be able to include sensitive stock information.
The new product display is fully reactive and should therefore be mobile friendly.
Though transparently, enhancing the display for mobile UI wasn't the main priority, so there's definitely some adjustments we could make to improve the experience on mobile - fairly minor adjustments, in the scheme of things.
But the rest of TitlePage - and most importantly, the search page - is not mobile friendly. The page architecture would need a complete rebuild - which is not a small task.
It may be that there's a stop gap measure - a very basic mobile search screen.
A user provided feedback that they felt that the very important Price and availability information was less prominent on the new display, being too close to the publishing status & publisher info, and preferred the gray background/boxes of the legacy display.
Some users have told us that they'd like to see the Publisher name on the search results page as an extra column.
A specialist children's bookseller told us that it was hard to identify books available in a Big Books edition, important for informing education inquiries.
Publishers can identify the Big Book format using the ONIX format code 'BM', but there isn't currently a TitlePage search by format. While probably not helpful for more populous formats like Hardback/Paperback, something like Big Books would result in a much smaller set of results.
One bookseller reported that they found the cover size in the new display too large, and therefore distracting from the important key information.
A couple of booksellers have requested the display of stock levels within the TitlePage Express browser extension, to avoid the need for the extra click through to TitlePage.
This would be possible, but it's not a small enhancement as it would require active authentication of bookseller users within the browser extension as opposed to simply relying on the existing TitlePage authentication.
Some users have had trouble finding page count/extent in the new display, under the Composition tab.
If this is a key bit of data that needs more prominence, we could also display it in Key Info, where it can be seen with no navigation.
The more we put into key info, however, will dilute the prominence of that information.
TitlePage displays Publisher provided Related Product information whenever present. However it is limited to the data that is providable in ONIX - which is minimal. For related ISBNs where there is another TitlePage record, it would be good to be able to display basic information - title, format, etc, perhaps stock status.
Thanks for your new version of title page, I like the new view.
One thing I’ve been meaning to email about though is whether title page can make a link from the series name as well as the author/illustrator.
The new display is great, but it would be really helpful if the contact info (phone and email) could be included in the Publishers/Supply tab.
